The title of this image is Distance. This photo is of one of my best friends, Noah. Noah has been my most consistent friend since we met in middle school band, and we spend a lot of time together. He’s the person who I know will always be willing to do something with me if I don’t want to alone, and he is an invaluable part of my life. I took this image at Bach Elementary School with the last bit of sunlight, and this really helped with eliminating glare and shadows. I like this location a lot because of the architecture that adds visual interest without being distracting. I’ve never really done portrait photography before, but I got more and more confident as I went. My mom and my brother do not usually like to be photographed, so it was challenging getting shots where they looked cool and comfortable. This final image is my favorite, though I like the original uncropped, color version more. I like it because I framed the subject using the rule of thirds, and the diagonal lines behind the subject frame his upper body while adding leading lines.
